Fall 2025 Newsletter

New Exhibit Space

Slowly but surely our new exhibit space is nearing completion. We had hoped it would be ready by Crab Carnival but that may not happen. There are still doors to install and inside work to complete. We are still accepting donations to help with this project. Any help would be appreciated and will help display some large West point artifacts.

Building Brick Work

We have recently discovered some issues with some of the bricks in our museum building and we have hired a historical building brick expert to make repairs before they become more serious. This was an unexpected expense that was not in our 2025 budget. We would greatly appreciate any financial help you can give to help with this repair. Just click the link below.

New board members and volunteers

Our two newest board members are already getting very involved in our activities. Dawn Greggs has agreed to become the new secretary for HSWP and Ann Byrne has been working with Terry Hall on the organization of our archive area. Ann has also accepted the responsibility of our volunteer program. Please reach out if you are interested in helping.

Military Exhibits

With the help of a grant from Dominion Energy as well as help from the John Harper family, We have added several new items to our military room displays to include an interactive map of WW2 battle sites. Stop in and take a look.

Once Upon an Oyster

In July, Jill Dalton and Ann Byrne hosted a storytime at our musem. It was called Once Upon an Oyster. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed the event. We hope to do more events like this in the future. Stay tuned.

History Tidbit

Music has always been a big part of West Point and Port Richmond. Following is an article from 1938 telling about a local music club meeting. Many familiar names are mentioned.
